WSC is recruiting an Assistant Administrator to join our small, dedicated team and help us continue delivering a professional service to our members and visitors at our excellent facilities.
We are seeking an organised and friendly Assistant Administrator to support member enquiries and assist with the day-to-day operations of our vibrant sailing club, working closely with our dedicated volunteers. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, along with competence in IT and database management. Flexibility is essential, and an interest in sailing would be an advantage.
This is a part-time position, with hours to be agreed, typically around 30 hours per week, working Monday to Friday with up to six weekend days as required.

About the Role:
The Assistant Administrator plays a key role in supporting the smooth running of the Club’s membership processes, bookings, and events programme. The role includes managing daily administrative tasks, maintaining efficient office operations, and providing exceptional support to staff, members, and prospective clients. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills and experience in office administration to contribute to a professional, dynamic, and community focused environment.
Job Type:
Part-Time.
Pay:
£25,000 per year.
Shift & Schedule:
- 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based on site at the Club.
- Core hours are 9 am to 3 pm, with some flexibility by agreement with the Senior Administrator.
- Occasional evening work (1-2 per month) may be required for meetings, with reasonable notice.
- Occasional weekend work (up to 6 days per year) may be required for major events, with Time Off in Lieu provided.

Key Responsibilities:
Working alongside the Senior Administrator, the Assistant Administrator is one of the first points of contact for Members and Visitors, whether in person, by phone, or by email. Together, they support the day to day administration of a large and active club of over 1,300 members, working closely with the Club’s officers, committees, and operational staff.
The position includes serving as a primary point of contact for prospective and current members, and supporting a wide range of administrative tasks including managing the membership database. A central responsibility is coordinating both private and Club bookings, managing related communications, and maintaining accurate records. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively with volunteer committees to support the Club’s activities and events.
Alongside administrative duties, membership enquiries and event coordination, the Assistant Administrator assists with some financial processes, including supporting invoicing for member activities. The role also assists with maintaining the Club’s digital platforms, such as the website and social media channels. Additional operational responsibilities include carrying out health and safety checks, adhering to risk assessment requirements, and providing cover for senior administrative staff when needed.

- Strong initiative, with a willingness to get hands on, pitch in, and support operational needs as they arise
Desirables:
- Knowledge of SharePoint advantageous
- Familiarity with WordPress or similar website platforms,(training will be provided)
- Experience with social media posts
- Strong numeracy skills, including confidence with invoicing processes
- Understanding of a sailing club or similar membership based environment
- A genuine enthusiasm for sailing and the Club’s on water activities
- Passion for contributing to a community focused, not for profit organisation
- Familiarity with the planning and rhythm of a sailing calendar and sailing events
